Grading and Record Keeping

If your council or part of the country.. requires some form of grades then, of course, you will need to fulfill that requirement. However, if they are not specific about how or what, you have the freedom to determine the “how and what” yourself.

As long as you are learning and growing each day, and there is clear progress in your daily achievement, then formal grades are not absolutely necessary.

Once your child /student reaches Middle/High School, however, the “game” changes.

Most high school students will need to have a high school transcript that does display “formal” grades.

Although, there is still wiggle room for you to apply practicality to this need as well. If your student takes music lessons or art lessons or car mechanic lessons, practices each week, and does well then a formal grade can be assigned to that practical life skill.

Flexibility and knowing what’s best for your child and when is the rule of thumb for grading.
