What are powers and roots?
Power and roots are terms that express a repeated multiplication of a number.
How do powers relate to roots?
Roots can be transformed in powers by raising the radicand to the power of a fraction, in which the numerator is the exponent (usually 1) of the radicand and the denominator will be the index of the radical. For example, the square root of 2 will be the power 2^1/2.
What happens to a power with a root?
Roots are the opposite of an exponent and are finding the base with a given exponent. This means that if the square root needs to be found of 64, look for the number that is multiplied by itself twice, because squared means two, to get the number 64.
